The Newtowne Hyperbarics C4-40 is the largest residential mild hyperbaric chamber Newtowne makes — and the most comfortable hard-shell option available for home HBOT. At 40 inches in diameter and 9 feet long, this FDA-cleared Class II portable hyperbaric chamber gives you room to lie flat, sit upright, or share a session with a second person. Designed for adults up to 6’3” and 250 lbs, it is built from double-laminated ballistic-grade nylon on a reinforced steel frame and engineered for daily home use without the space constraints or durability trade-offs of cheaper soft-shell chambers. If you want the best hyperbaric chamber for home use and you want it made in the USA, this is the chamber to buy.
Newtowne is the only major hyperbaric chamber brand manufacturing in the United States — every other brand at this price point is built in China. After 20+ years in production, Newtowne's track record of zero safety incidents and direct factory support is what separates it from imported alternatives. We carry Newtowne because clients who need a chamber for serious, daily use need one that is going to hold pressure cleanly, support their weight comfortably, and not degrade after 100 sessions. The C4-40 is the choice when a buyer wants maximum space and USA build quality without paying clinical-grade prices. Our team can also help with prescription referrals, setup guidance, and ongoing support — not just the sale.
| Specification | What It Means for You |
|---|---|
| 40″ diameter | Enough width to sit upright with elbows out, stretch your arms, or fit a second person lying beside you. Designed for adults up to 6’3” and 250 lbs. |
| 9 feet (108″) long | Full-length adult can lie flat without touching the end. Practically eliminates the enclosed feeling common in 27″ models. |
| 1.3 ATA / 4 PSI | The pressure level FDA allows for home mild HBOT use. Elevated enough to increase dissolved oxygen in plasma; safe for daily sessions without clinical supervision. |
| Double-laminated ballistic-grade nylon | The same material class used in military gear. Resists abrasion, holds pressure consistently, does not stretch or deform with daily use. |
| Triple zipper entry + dual safety zippers | Three-layer zipper system prevents accidental opening at pressure. Operate from inside or outside the chamber — no assistant needed. |
| Two 9″ reinforced windows | One window at the head, one at the feet. Hard port covers prevent window bulging at pressure. Visibility in both directions reduces anxiety for first-time users. |
| Power outage alarm | If the compressor stops or power is lost, an audible alarm sounds immediately. Plenty of time to exit using normal procedures — no emergency-only exit required. |
| Reinforced steel frame | Chamber rests on a rigid frame with no sagging or soft floor. Can also be elevated on a platform or used with a lift for accessibility needs. |
| 200W / 110V | Plugs into any standard US household outlet — the same power draw as a large floor fan. No special wiring or electrician required. |
| 4″ Fortis memory foam mattress | 4 inches of contoured foam absorbs pressure points during 60–90 minute sessions. Washable cover included. |
| Exclusive port pressure covers | Prevent the bulge effect at valve ports common in chambers without this feature. Keeps port areas flush and visually clean at pressure. |
| 2-year warranty (5-year extendable) | Material defects and workmanship covered. Extended warranty covers parts and labor on select plans. |

Per FDA guidelines, the Newtowne C4-40 requires a prescription from a licensed physician or chiropractor. Prescriptions are accepted in all 50 states from a medical physician or chiropractic physician. Licensed Naturopaths (ND) are accepted in AZ, HI, MT, NH, OR, UT, VT, and WA. Doctors and clinics purchasing for clinical use are exempt.
What the prescription needs to say: The prescription should specify the patient's name, that a mild hyperbaric chamber (1.3 ATA) is medically indicated, and — if you are also purchasing an oxygen concentrator — that the concentrator is included on the same prescription. Your doctor can reference FDA Class II portable mild hyperbaric chamber. There is no exact mandated wording, but it must be signed by a licensed provider.

The Newtowne C4-40 ships via freight within the USA from Newtowne's US facility. Lead time is typically 1–2 weeks from order confirmation. The chamber ships to a residential or commercial address — it does not require a loading dock. Contact us before ordering if you have freight access restrictions.
The chamber can be set up by the buyer without professional installation. Newtowne provides a step-by-step video installation guide and printed manual. Setup typically takes one to two hours. Professional installation is available in select areas — call 866-861-6317 to confirm local availability.
The chamber frame is designed to sit at floor level but can also be elevated on a platform for easier entry — useful for users with limited mobility. A medical lift can also be used with this chamber.
We do not ship to PO boxes. For questions on delivery logistics to your address, call 866-861-6317 before ordering.
Yes. The C4-40 is designed for adults up to 6’3” and 250 lbs. At 40″ in diameter and 9 feet long, there is enough room to lie flat without the feet touching the end, and enough width to shift position comfortably during a 60–90 minute session. This is the largest residential model Newtowne makes — specifically the right fit for larger-framed adults who find the 27″ or 34″ models restrictive.
Not strictly necessary — most adults fit the 27″ and 34″ models without issue. But the 40″ makes a measurable difference in comfort for daily sessions. You can sit upright without hunching, change position mid-session, and avoid the enclosed feeling that causes some users to skip sessions. If you plan to use the chamber every day for 60–90 minutes, the extra space pays for itself in compliance.
Yes. The 40″ diameter fits two adults comfortably, or one adult and a child. Both occupants share the same pressurized environment and breathe ambient pressurized air, or supplement with oxygen via concentrator if prescribed. Each person would need their own oxygen delivery accessories if using a concentrator.
The chamber will pressurize and function without an oxygen concentrator. At 1.3 ATA, you are breathing ambient air at elevated pressure — the increase in dissolved oxygen from pressure alone is what the chamber delivers. An oxygen concentrator increases the oxygen percentage you breathe during the session, which some protocols call for and some do not. Whether you need one depends on your physician's protocol. If you are unsure, ask your prescribing doctor or call us at 866-861-6317. If you do need one, compatible models include the Drive DeVilbiss 10L and AirSep Newlife Intensity 10L — both available separately with a prescription that includes the concentrator.
There is no exact mandated wording. The prescription needs to be signed by a licensed medical physician, chiropractic physician, or (in select states) a licensed Naturopath. It should identify the patient and state that a mild hyperbaric chamber is medically indicated. If you are also ordering an oxygen concentrator, both the chamber and the concentrator must appear on the same prescription. Your doctor can write: "mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy, 1.3 ATA, portable Class II device" — that is sufficient. Email your prescription to info@recovathlete.com after purchase.
No. The C4-40 is designed for buyer setup without professional installation. Newtowne includes a printed step-by-step manual and video guides. Most buyers set up the chamber in one to two hours. Professional installation is available in select areas if you prefer it — call 866-861-6317 to confirm local availability and pricing. The chamber can also be elevated on a platform or used with a medical lift, which may require additional help to position.
Newtowne does not ship directly to Canada. The workaround used by Canadian buyers is to ship to a UPS Store or freight terminal near the US-Canada border, then transport the chamber across the border as personal medical equipment. This has been done without issue by previous customers — border agents accept FDA-cleared medical devices transported for personal use with appropriate documentation (your prescription helps). Once you order, we ship to the US address of your choice and share tracking so you can time your pickup. Call 866-861-6317 to discuss the best border location for your area before placing your order.
Standard 110V household outlet — the same outlet you would plug a floor fan or air purifier into. Power draw is 200 watts. No special wiring, no electrician needed. The compressor cord is a standard US plug. If you are in Canada, note that Canada uses the same 110V/120V standard as the US — the chamber will work on a standard Canadian outlet without an adapter or converter.
The chamber has a built-in power outage alarm that sounds immediately if the compressor stops or power is lost. The chamber does not instantly depressurize — there is ample time to exit using normal procedures (the entry zippers operate from inside at any pressure level). There is no emergency exit required; follow the normal exit procedure in the user manual.
Newtowne is the only major hyperbaric chamber brand manufacturing in the USA. Competing brands at similar or lower price points — OxyRevo, Macy-Pan, OxyNova — are manufactured in China. Newtowne has a 20+ year manufacturing track record with zero reported safety incidents. The triple zipper entry system, exclusive dual safety zippers, power outage alarm, dual 9″ windows with hard port covers, and dual redundant pressure relief valves are Newtowne features not found together on imported chambers.
No. The C4-40 ships with oxygen delivery hardware — tubing, adult mask, cannula, and the valve — but the concentrator itself is sold separately and requires its own prescription (or be listed on the chamber prescription). Compatible models: Drive DeVilbiss 10L and AirSep Newlife Intensity 10L. Ask us about concentrator availability at 866-861-6317.
The 120L compressor with sound suppression runs at about the same volume as a standard floor fan or desktop air purifier — audible in the room, not disruptive to conversation. Most users place it on a foam mat to further reduce floor vibration. For Canadian buyers or anyone in an apartment: the noise level is not problematic for standard residential walls.
FDA clearance via the 510(k) pathway means the C4-40 has been reviewed and cleared as substantially equivalent to a legally marketed predicate device. Class II means the FDA requires special controls to ensure safety and effectiveness. Clearance number #1000402893 is verifiable in the FDA 510(k) database. It does not mean the FDA endorses every wellness claim associated with HBOT — it means the device itself meets safety and performance standards for the indicated use.
The C4-40 comes with a 2-year standard manufacturer warranty covering material defects and workmanship. Extended warranty options are available up to 5 years and cover parts and labor on select plans. Call 866-861-6317 to add a warranty extension at time of purchase.
Yes. The chamber deflates and rolls for storage or transport, and the steel frame disassembles. Setup and breakdown takes 15–30 minutes once you have done it a few times. It is designed to be set up in a standard bedroom, home gym, or treatment room — not permanently fixed infrastructure.
Disclaimer: The Newtowne C4-40 is intended for mild hyperbaric oxygen sessions for general wellness purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Consult your licensed healthcare provider before beginning any hyperbaric therapy. Results vary. Prescription required for purchase.

Our team can also help with prescription referrals, setup guidance, and ongoing support — not just the sale.
