Newtowne C4-Shoe Hyperbaric Chamber: Portable USA-Made HBOT for Home or Clinic

The Newtowne C4-Shoe Hyperbaric Chamber is the most compact seated option in the Newtowne lineup. You sit inside the chamber with your legs extending forward into the lower chamber body — a design that reduces footprint significantly compared to a full-length cylindrical model while delivering the same FDA-cleared 1.3 ATA mild HBOT session. It is USA-made, prescription-required, and built with the same medical-grade nylon and safety zipper system that defines the Newtowne standard. For apartment dwellers, travel use, or clinics that need a space-efficient option, the C4-Shoe is a practical choice without importing from China.

    Why RecovAthlete Carries Newtowne

Newtowne is the only major hyperbaric chamber brand manufacturing in the United States — every competing brand at this price tier is built in China. After 20+ years in production, Newtowne's track record of zero safety incidents, FDA clearance, and direct US factory support separates it from imported alternatives. We carry Newtowne because buyers who need a chamber for serious daily use need one that holds pressure cleanly, supports their weight comfortably, and lasts years without degradation. Our team helps with prescription referrals, setup guidance, and ongoing support — not just the sale.

    Who Typically Buys the C4-Shoe

    • Urban apartment users who cannot fit a 9-foot cylindrical chamber in their living space
    • Buyers who want to try HBOT at home before committing to a larger chamber
    • Clinics that need a portable, easy-to-store option for overflow capacity
    • Users upgrading from cheap soft-shell chambers who want a USA-built alternative at a comparable form factor

    What the C4-Shoe Delivers

    • Pressurizes to 4 PSI (1.3 ATA) — FDA-cleared mild HBOT level, same as the full C4 cylindrical line
    • Seated posture with legs extended forward — reduces floor footprint versus cylindrical models
    • FDA-cleared Class II medical device — manufactured and cleared to the same standard as Newtowne’s larger chambers
    • Dual interior and exterior controls — operate alone without an assistant
    • Compatible with 10 LPM @ 20 PSI prescription oxygen concentrators
    • In-line air filtration and quiet compressor — suitable for home bedroom or office use
    • Four accessory valve ports for oxygen monitoring or pass-through accessories

    Frequently Asked Questions

How is the C4-Shoe different from the Long Shoe?

Both use the same reclined-seated design. The Long Shoe has extended interior length for taller adults. If you are under roughly 6 feet, the C4-Shoe will fit comfortably. Taller users typically need the Long Shoe to extend their legs fully.

Is the C4-Shoe actually portable — can I travel with it?

It is more portable than a full cylindrical chamber. The shell deflates and can be rolled or folded for storage and transport. The compressor adds separate weight. Many users transport it between home and a second location. It is not a carry-on item but it is manageable as checked or shipped freight.

Can I lie down in the C4-Shoe?

No. The shoe geometry positions you in a reclined-seated posture with legs extending forward. It is not designed for a fully horizontal lying position. If you want to lie flat, the C4-27, C4-34, or C4-40 cylindrical chambers are the right choice.

    Is a prescription required?

Yes. All Newtowne chambers require a physician or chiropractor prescription. Dr. Garry Warner offers telehealth consults at (303) 915-4813.

Disclaimer: This chamber is intended for mild hyperbaric oxygen sessions for general wellness purposes only. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Consult your licensed healthcare provider before beginning any hyperbaric therapy. Results vary. Prescription required for purchase.

    FDA Compliance Overview

Some recovery products on our site are FDA-cleared; others are FDA-registered or not evaluated by the FDA.

    • FDA-Cleared: Reviewed and approved for specific medical claims.
    • FDA-Registered: Manufacturer has notified the FDA of the product’s existence — this does not mean approval or endorsement.
    • Non-Approved: Not reviewed or cleared for medical use.

    Hyperbaric Chambers & Off-Label Use

    • The FDA only clears soft chambers up to 1.3 ATA for altitude sickness.
    • Using them for wellness, athletic recovery, or chronic issues is off-label use — legal, but not FDA-evaluated for those purposes.
    • Chambers at 1.4–2.0 ATA (hard-shell units) are typically Class II medical devices requiring a prescription and PVHO-1 compliance in the U.S.
