OxyRevo Apex 32 1.5 ATA Portable Lying Hyperbaric Chamber

The chamber is identical in both. The Standard splits the work across three machines, a compressor, an oxygen concentrator and an air cooler, each with its own plug and its own controls, 970 W and 55 kg in total. The Pro puts all of it in one wheeled unit at 1,400 W, with one press operation, a session timer and two cooling machines instead of one. Take the Pro if your room runs warm or you would rather start everything with one button. Take the Standard if you would rather carry three machines than one 80 kg unit.

Pressure and length are identical: both hold 1.5 ATA and both are 230 cm long. The body is the only difference. The Apex32 is 80 cm across, the Apex36 is 90 cm. The Apex36 cabin weighs 17 kg against 15 kg. Choose on shoulder room and floor space, since the body width is the one thing you cannot change afterwards.

1.5 ATA is the top of the soft shell range and 1.4 ATA is one step below it. The Apex32 also runs at 1.4, 1.3 and 1.2 ATA through its converter, so buying the higher ceiling does not lock you into it. The practical question is whether you want the option later, because the ceiling is built into the chamber and cannot be raised afterwards.

No. 1.5 ATA is the working pressure OxyRevo builds into the Apex32 and no soft shell chamber goes above it. The inflated cabin is 230 by 80 cm, which is 90 by 32 in, roughly the footprint of a single bed. Add walking room at one end for the zipper, and floor space beside it for the machines. OxyRevo asks that the machines sit away from the wall in open air, because they give off heat while they run.

OxyRevo's manuals tell owners to switch on room air conditioning once the room goes above 20 C, which is 68 F. This is the fact buyers miss most often, and it is the reason a chamber stops getting used. The air cooler in the Standard package and the refrigerate button on the Pro both pull heat and humidity out of the cabin, but neither is a substitute for a room you can cool.

No rewiring. Every machine runs on a standard 110 V supply. The Standard package draws 970 W across three plugs, so spread them over more than one outlet. The Pro all in one draws 1,400 W by itself, which is about 12.7 A at 110 V, so do not share its outlet with another heavy appliance.

The internal frame goes inside the cabin. Carry the frame rods in, then build the frame while the chamber inflates for the first time, holding and tightening the rods at the locking tube jointers. An Allen wrench is supplied for this. The gauges fit before first use, the internal one inside the cabin and the external one outside, and the silencer mounts to the air inlet valve inside.

OxyRevo recommends 60 to 90 minutes at pressure. Add 8 to 10 minutes for the chamber to reach 1.5 ATA on the Standard, about 10 minutes on the Pro, and 5 to 10 minutes to come back down. Allow around two hours in the room for a 90 minute session. The zippers only release once both gauges read 0 kPa.

Yes. OxyRevo's manual says owners may bring electronic products and drinks into the chamber. It asks you to take off shoes, jewellery and anything sharp that could damage the shell, to remove long socks, and to wear loose clothing. You can do all of it yourself. Replace the activated carbon cotton filters every 6 to 12 months depending on how often you run the chamber and how dusty the room is. Empty the cooler's water container before and after every session. Wipe the inside of the cabin with a damp antibacterial cloth when it needs it, then run it under pressure for 20 minutes until dry.

A 60 minute session on the Standard draws about 970 W, so a little under 1 kWh, and the Pro draws 1,400 W because it runs two cooling machines. What the higher ceiling buys is choice: the Apex32 runs mild oxygen therapy at 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 or 1.5 ATA, so you can sit at the lower settings and still have somewhere to go. A chamber built to 1.3 cannot be raised later.
