Wood Pilates Reformers by Brand

Each brand builds its wood reformers a little differently, in grain, price, and feature set. Here is how the wood lines compare.

Elina Pilates

Several wood options across different price points, all maple and lignum wood, from the Lignum and Standard Wood reformers through the Elite Wood and the Elite Convertible with Tower. A physio wood option is also available.

Align Pilates

The M8 Pro Maple is a solid North American maple frame rated by Align for full commercial performance, with Align's fast-change spring bar.

Peak Pilates

The Artistry Reformer is a handcrafted beech, oak, and walnut hardwood frame with classical design, and the Artistry with TWS Tower adds tower repertoire.

BASI Systems

The BASI Reformer is a studio-grade maple and beech reformer built around BASI Pilates programming, and the Reformer with Tower adds tower work.

Private Pilates

The Premium Wood Reformer and Premium Wood Tower Reformer use a beech frame, a warmer, lighter-toned grain than Elina's maple, at a similar price to the Elite Wood for buyers who prefer the beech look.

Wood vs Metal and Aluminium Reformers

A wood reformer offers the classical Pilates aesthetic, a substantial frame, and the furniture-grade look many studios and home buyers want. Frame material is only one factor in how a reformer feels and sounds in use; carriage, wheels, bearings, springs, maintenance, and floor surface all matter too. Metal and aluminium reformers are usually lighter, often fold for storage, and can cost less, which suits smaller spaces and buyers who move the machine between sessions. If you want the look and presence of classical equipment, wood is the choice. If portability and a lower entry price matter more, compare our home and folding reformers, or browse the full reformer range.

Which Wood Type Should You Choose?

The wood reformers here use three main frame materials. The difference is mostly in appearance and grain rather than performance, so it often comes down to the look you want and which brand carries it.

Maple

A pale, tight, even grain with a clean modern-classical look. Used by Align (North American maple on the M8 Pro), Elina (maple and lignum across its wood range), and in the BASI frame. The most common wood in this category.

Beech

A warmer, light golden tone with a smooth grain. Used by Private Pilates and in the BASI frame. A good pick if you prefer a warmer wood colour than maple at a similar price.

Mixed hardwood, oak and walnut

Peak's handcrafted Artistry frame combines beech, oak, and walnut for a richer, more traditional studio appearance with deeper grain contrast.

All of these are solid, studio-durable hardwoods. If a specific grain or colour matters to you, call 866-861-6317 and we will confirm the exact wood and finish on any model.

Choosing by Use: Home or Studio

The Elina Lignum suits home buyers prioritising price, the Align M8 Pro suits those wanting maple with a commercial rating, and the Peak Artistry or BASI Reformer suit studios wanting traditional daily-use equipment. For reformer and tower repertoire on one frame, choose any tower version.

Common Questions

What is a wood Pilates reformer?

A wood or wooden Pilates reformer is a reformer built on a solid wood frame, usually maple, beech, or another hardwood, rather than aluminium or steel. We carry wood reformers from Elina, Align, Peak, BASI, and Private Pilates.

Are wooden reformers better than metal ones?

Neither is better outright, they suit different buyers. Wood reformers offer the classical aesthetic and a substantial frame. Metal and aluminium reformers are usually lighter, often fold for storage, and can cost less. Choose wood for a traditional look and presence, metal for portability and a lower entry price. See the Wood vs Metal section above for detail.

Which wood Pilates reformer is best?

It depends on your priority. The Elina Lignum suits buyers prioritising price, the Align M8 Pro suits buyers wanting a maple frame with commercial rating, and the Peak Artistry or BASI Reformer suit buyers seeking traditional studio-oriented equipment. Call 866-861-6317 and we match a model to your space and budget.

Do wood reformers come with a tower option?

Yes. Several wood reformers offer a tower version that adds standing and seated spring work on the same frame, including the Elina Elite Convertible, Private Premium Wood Tower, Peak Artistry with TWS, and BASI Reformer with Tower.

Do you ship wood reformers nationally, and is there a warranty?

Yes to both. We ship wood reformers across the continental US, and as an authorized dealer for every brand we carry, each reformer ships new with the full manufacturer warranty. Call 866-861-6317 to confirm stock, lead times, and warranty terms by model.

Authorized dealer, every brand New machines only, full manufacturer warranty.
