Check whether the terms cover multi-user use with no weekly hour ceiling. Frame, moving parts and upholstery carry different periods.

Aluminum, steel or rock maple. Under constant load what matters is wall thickness, weld quality, frame stability, and whether the rails stay aligned after years of daily resets.

Wheel count and rail material set the ride. Align runs 8 polyurethane wheels on precision aluminium runners, Merrithew a rolling mechanism on C-channel aluminum rails, BASI a beech frame on aircraft-grade rails.

Count the springs, then check how fast one instructor changes them alone. Align uses a Rapid Change spring bar. Merrithew, Peak and BASI ship 5 springs at three tensions, Elina 6.

Cover material and seams decide how the carriage survives sweat, cleaning products and thousands of transfers. BASI specifies antibacterial hospital-grade vinyl. It is the first part to fail on an underbuilt machine.

The clearest durability number on a spec sheet. Merrithew rates the V2 Max Plus at 425 lb and the SPX Max and V2 Max at 350 lb, Align its commercial range at 330 lb, Peak the MVe at 300 lb. BASI and Elina do not publish a rating.

Springs, ropes, straps and wheels are wear parts. For safety and uptime, ask whether each can be ordered separately and fitted in your studio.

The Merrithew SPX Max stacks and holds 350 lb. Vertical Stand bundles store it upright instead, and the range upgrades to Cadillac work later with a frame rather than a second machine. Tradeoff: at 247 cm it is not the shortest option here.

The Align C8 Pro uses Align's patented Rapid Change spring bar, moved with one hand in a single action, and it is the lowest entry price here. Tradeoff: Align rates its commercial line to 330 lb, below Merrithew's 350 lb, so confirm capacity against your heaviest client.

The Peak Artistry comes in beech or walnut, the Elina Elite Wood in rock maple. Tradeoff: classical builds carry a narrower resistance range than contemporary machines.

The Align A8 Pro has 113 cm of travel, the longest here, on a 67 cm carriage. The BASI Reformer goes wider still at 70 cm. Tradeoff: the A8 Pro is also the longest machine here at 263 cm, so measure the station before you order four.

The BASI Compact Reformer is 207 cm long, the shortest studio frame here, and keeps the beech frame and aluminum rails of the full machine. Tradeoff: the carriage drops to 65 by 60 cm, so tall clients lose range.

The Merrithew V2 Max Plus takes 425 lb, the highest rating on this page. The Align C8 Pro Full Cadillac and BASI Reformer Combo do the same job. Tradeoff: one frame doing both means one client at a time on it.
