For most homes, we'd start with a soft chamber at 1.4 to 1.5 ATA. OxyRevo's soft models weigh 29 to 95 lb and need no installer. Choose a hard chamber at up to 2.0 ATA only with a ground-floor room and clear route.

If lying flat is hard, pick a sitting or wheelchair model instead. You can compare every model in our hyperbaric chambers collection.

We work with several financing partners if you want to spread the cost. These are not paid placements, and each pick rests on published specs.

If you are not sure where to start, book a consultation with our team. Or call 866-861-6317, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm EST.

Quick Way to Choose

Answer these five questions in order, and each answer narrows the field.

  1. Has a doctor prescribed hyperbaric treatment for you? Then go to an accredited hyperbaric center, not a home chamber.
  2. Can you climb in, lie flat and get out on your own? If yes, a lying chamber works for you. If not, choose a sitting or wheelchair model.
  3. Is the room on the ground floor, with a wide and clear route? If yes, a hard shell at up to 2.0 ATA is an option. If not, stay with a lighter soft shell.
  4. Will two people of different sizes share the chamber? Size the chamber for the larger user, not the smaller one.
  5. Will you use it several times a week? If you are unsure, try sessions at a local center before you buy.

What the Specs Mean

Spec on the page What it means for you
ATA Total pressure, with normal air counted as 1.0. So 1.3 ATA is 30% above normal air.
psi above normal air About 4.4 psi at 1.3 ATA, 7.3 at 1.5 ATA and 14.7 at 2.0 ATA. We worked these out as ATA minus 1, times 14.7.
Listed size The diameter or width on the product page. Pages do not say if it is inside or outside, so ask for the interior size.
Oxygen concentrator, 10 L Its top flow, in liters per minute. What you breathe also depends on mask fit and flow setting.
Oxygen purity, 90 to 97% The concentrator's output, per OxyRevo. It is not the oxygen level inside your mask.
Noise, 50 dB or less OxyRevo's rating for its soft models. Ask about hard-shell noise before you order.
Zipper or door Soft chambers seal with zippers. Hard chambers close with a door and can run higher pressure.
Chamber weight OxyRevo's soft models weigh 29 to 95 lb. Its hard models weigh 507 to 1,323 lb. The 2.0 ATA Space60 build is heavier, at 1,543 lb.
Voltage OxyRevo lists 110V/220V for most models. It does not publish amperage, so ask an electrician.

Soft Shell vs Hard Shell for Home Use

A soft chamber is a fabric shell sealed with zippers. In this guide, soft models run at 1.3 to 1.5 ATA.

A hard chamber is a stainless steel shell that closes with a door. OxyRevo's hard models run at 1.5 or 2.0 ATA and weigh 507 to 1,323 lb. The 2.0 ATA Space60 build is heavier, at 1,543 lb.

Soft shells weigh 29 to 95 lb in OxyRevo's range, so they can move between rooms. Compare them in our portable hyperbaric chambers collection.

A hard shell usually stays in the room where it is installed. Compare those models in our hard shell hyperbaric chambers collection.

A hard shell does not mean a chamber is FDA cleared. Also, avoid paying for pressure you will not use, since 2.0 ATA builds cost more.

1.3, 1.4, 1.5 or 2.0 ATA: Which Pressure Fits

ATA is total pressure, with normal air counted as 1.0.

Soft shells in this guide top out at 1.5 ATA. If you want 2.0 ATA, you need a hard shell.

Most models also run below their top setting. OxyRevo's soft chambers start from 1.1 or 1.2 ATA, and its hard chambers adjust in steps.

If a physician has prescribed hyperbaric treatment, follow their advice and go to an accredited hyperbaric center. Otherwise, choose by room, route and position first.

Lying, Sitting or Wheelchair Access

Lying chambers are tubes that you climb into and lie flat inside. The makers list them at 27 to 36 inches in diameter.

Sitting chambers let you sit upright or recline. OxyRevo includes a folding chair in the Forward90 and Space60.

You can compare lying and sitting models side by side in our full chamber range.

Wheelchair chambers let a user roll straight in. Both wheelchair models here are soft shells, listed with our portable chambers.

No maker here publishes entry opening or maximum user weight. Check both in the manual, or ask us on a call before you order.

Two people can share one chamber, one session at a time. Size it for the larger user and the one with less mobility.

Who a Home Chamber Suits, and Who Should Not Buy One

Is a home chamber worth buying for your own house? In our view, yes, if you will use it often and have room.

It suits people who want a regular routine at home, without booking sessions elsewhere. Athletes can use the same checks and compare every model in our hyperbaric chamber range.

Skip it if you expect a home chamber to replace treatment your doctor prescribed. Skip a hard shell if your route or floor cannot take its weight.

Anyone with a medical condition should see a physician or an accredited hyperbaric center first.

Will It Fit? Room, Doorway, Floor, Power and Noise

Measure the whole delivery route as well as the room. Check every doorway, hall turn and stair against the listed width.

At each doorway, measure the clear opening between the door stops. The door slab itself is wider than the space a chamber can pass.

Fit Estimates for Hard Shells

Model Listed width or diameter Chamber weight Estimated floor load, with a 250 lb user
OxyRevo Quest30 30 in 507 lb About 41 lb per sq ft
OxyRevo Quest36 36 in 573 lb About 37 lb per sq ft
OxyRevo Space60, 1.5 ATA build 34 in 1,323 lb About 84 lb per sq ft
OxyRevo Space60, 2.0 ATA build 34 in 1,543 lb About 96 lb per sq ft
OxyRevo Space60 Mini 30.7 in Not published separately Not estimated

These floor loads are our estimates, not figures from the maker. We added 250 lb to the chamber weight, then divided by the listed length times width.

That average ignores the extra load under each wheel. Get a structural check before any hard shell goes in.

Check ceiling height before you order a tall model. OxyRevo lists the Space60 at 60 inches tall and the Heal40 at 75 inches tall.

OxyRevo lists 110V/220V for most models but publishes no amperage. Have an electrician confirm the circuit before delivery.

The chamber's running equipment also warms the room it sits in. Get its wattage from the manual or an electrician. Then multiply watts by 3.412 to get BTU per hour for your HVAC check.

OxyRevo rates its soft models at 50 dB or less. For hard-shell noise, check the manual or ask us on a call.

OxyRevo's hard chambers list an emergency valve that releases pressure in 30 seconds. The Quest pages also describe automatic pressure release during a power cut.

What a Home Chamber Does, and What It Cannot Promise

A home chamber raises the air pressure around you above normal air. Through a mask, the concentrator adds oxygen to what you breathe.

In our view, the main gain is access: sessions at home, on your own schedule.

A home chamber cannot promise a health result. It does not replace treatment that a physician prescribes.

FDA and CE: What the Labels Mean

The FDA classification record for product code CBF covers hyperbaric chambers. It lists them as Class 2 devices under regulation 868.5470, cleared through a 510(k).

"Registered" means a company is listed with the FDA. "Cleared" means a specific model passed a 510(k) review.

"Approved" is not the FDA term for this device class. OxyRevo chambers are CE certified, a European mark that is not FDA clearance.

To check a model, search the FDA 510(k) database by product code CBF. Then match the exact maker and model name on the record.

Owning One: Cleaning, Maintenance and Warranty

OxyRevo says its compressor filters are the main replacement part. It lists a change every 6 to 12 months, depending on use.

Zippers and seals see the most handling on a soft shell. Clean and care for them the way the manual directs.

Clean the inside only with products the manual allows.

Newtowne's products page lists a standard two-year warranty. Ask us for OxyRevo's current warranty terms before you order.

What It Costs to Own One

Delivery, room prep, electrical work and filters add to what the chamber costs. White glove delivery is available as a paid add-on. Our hyperbaric chamber cost guide breaks down the full cost.

Mistakes Buyers Make

  1. Expecting a home chamber to match clinical treatment. It does not replace treatment that a physician prescribes.
  2. Assuming any hard shell is a medical device. Hard construction says nothing about FDA clearance, so check the exact model.
  3. Judging a concentrator by its flow rating alone. The 10 L figure is top flow, not what reaches your mask.
  4. Choosing a pressure before checking the chamber's interior size. A narrow chamber at higher pressure can feel tight in long sessions.
  5. Measuring the room but not the delivery route. Every doorway, hall turn and stair must clear the listed width.
  6. Budgeting for the chamber price and nothing else. Delivery, room prep, electrical work and filters add to the total.
  7. Reading "FDA registered" as "FDA cleared" on a listing. Our FDA section explains what each of those labels means.
  8. Taking a phone or other electronics inside the chamber. Keep electronics out unless the manual allows them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I buy a soft or hard chamber for home?
For most homes, we'd start with a soft chamber, since it is lighter and moves between rooms. Choose a hard shell for 2.0 ATA, with a ground-floor room and clear route.
Is 1.5 ATA better than 1.3 ATA for home use?
By our math, 1.5 ATA adds about 7.3 psi above normal air, against about 4.4 at 1.3 ATA. It is higher pressure, not a promised result, so choose by fit and room.
Are home hyperbaric chambers FDA approved or FDA cleared?
The FDA classifies hyperbaric chambers as Class 2 devices, cleared through a 510(k), not approved. OxyRevo chambers are CE certified, a European mark that is not FDA clearance.
Will a hard chamber fit through my door?
Measure each clear opening on the route and compare it with the listed width. Our fit table lists the width of each hard shell.
Can I put a hyperbaric chamber in an apartment or upstairs room?
OxyRevo's soft chambers weigh 29 to 95 lb, far less than its hard shells. Any hard shell needs a structural check first, especially above the ground floor.
What is included when I buy a home chamber?
OxyRevo lists a 10 L concentrator with each of its chambers in this guide. White glove delivery is available as a paid add-on.
How loud is a home hyperbaric chamber?
OxyRevo rates its soft chambers at 50 dB or less. For hard shells, check the manual or ask us on a call.
Is a sitting chamber a good choice for an older adult?
A sitting or wheelchair chamber avoids climbing into a tube and lying flat. For any medical question, ask a physician before buying.
What size chamber is comfortable for a larger person?
Interior size and user limits vary by model, so check the manual first. Or book a call and we'll compare models with you.
What does owning a home chamber cost beyond the chamber itself?
Delivery, room prep, electrical work and filters add to the total, as our cost guide explains.
