Most wall heaters are a steel box you learn to ignore. The Harvia Spirit is the one people put on the wall facing the door. It is a curved, graphite black electric sauna heater holding 110 lbs of rounded stones, made in Finland, and sold here in three outputs: the Spirit SP60E at 6kW, the SP80E at 8kW and the SP90E at 9kW. Between them they cover home saunas from 177 to 494 cubic feet. All three run on a separate wall control rather than dials on the unit, which is what lets you start the room from your phone.
RecovAthlete is an authorized dealer for Harvia. All orders include factory warranty and direct manufacturer support.
The stone basket is the point. Spirit takes 110 lbs of round Olivine diabase rather than the split-face rubble most heaters ship with, and rounded stones sit with more air between them. More stone mass and better airflow give you steam that lasts through several ladles instead of a sharp burst that fades. The curve is not only styling either: Harvia runs ventilation channels through the body that cool the wall behind it and push air through the elements.
The Spirit ships as a heater only, with no stones and no control. Budget three things together: 110 lbs of stone, which Harvia specifies as four 33 lb boxes of round Olivine diabase, part R-991; a control, a Fenix FX30 or Xenio CX30 for the SP60E and a Fenix FX45 or Xenio CX45 for the SP80E and SP90E; and 240V single phase hardwired by an electrician. There is no three phase version for the US, so a commercial room on 208V three phase needs a different Harvia line.
Harvia enforces a minimum advertised price on the Spirit line, so the number is the same at every authorized dealer. What differs is whether the heater arrives able to run.
SP60E, SP80E and SP90E are the same physical heater: 15 by 13.1 by 29.5 inches, 28.8 lbs empty, graphite black steel, wall mounted. All three hold 110 lbs of stone and require the same 110 lbs, four boxes. Only the element rating changes. The SP60E covers 177 to 294 cubic feet at 25 A, the SP80E 431 at 33.3 A, and the SP90E 494 at 37.5 A. Maximum temperature is 194°F on all three. The Spirit range is ETL listed.
Clearances matter more than footprint on a wall heater. For the SP60E, Harvia publishes 3.2 inches to combustible material at the front and both sides, 4 inches to the floor, and 35.5 inches to the ceiling. They change with output, so confirm the figure in the manual for the model you buy. Two safety sensors are built in, one on the heater and one watching the room, plus a cutout that stops the heater starting if anything is resting on it. That last one is what makes remote starting reasonable rather than reckless.
| What you get | The feature behind it |
|---|---|
| Steam that holds through several ladles instead of fading after one. | 110 lb stone capacity in round Olivine diabase, which stacks with more air gap than split-face stone. |
| A heater you are happy to have facing the door. | Curved graphite black steel body, designed and made in Finland. |
| Start it from your phone without worrying what someone left on top. | Integrated cutout that blocks startup when an object is on the heater. |
| The wall behind it stays cooler than you expect. | Ventilation channels through the body that cool wall structures and move air through the elements. |
| Two independent things watching for overheat, not one. | Separate safety sensors on the heater and on room temperature. |
| One heater size fits three room sizes. | Same 15 x 13.1 x 29.5 inch body across SP60E, SP80E and SP90E, so the wall plan does not change if you resize. |
Measure your room in cubic feet, width times depth times height, and match it to the output in the table below. Confirm you have 240V single phase available at the sauna and an electrician to hardwire it. Order stones and a control at the same time. Harvia's box list for the Spirit is heater, fastening kit and manual. Its US distributor sheet also lists a temperature sensor, and we are confirming which is current, so ask us rather than assuming: on most installs the sensor comes with the control unit anyway.
Spirit has no controls on the body, so a wall control is required, not optional. The current line is Fenix, which is a touchscreen with WiFi built in: the Harvia Fenix sauna control in FX30 for the SP60E, or FX45 for the SP80E and SP90E, because the FX30 tops out at 7kW on 240V single phase. The older Harvia Xenio digital control is still stocked and still supported if you prefer buttons to a screen, in CX30 and CX45 to the same split.
A sauna gets used when it is pleasant to sit in and easy to turn on. Spirit covers both: enough stone mass that the steam behaves, and a control line that starts the room from the house.
Not sure whether your room needs the SP60E or the SP80E? Call 866-861-6317, 9am to 6pm EST, Monday to Friday, with your room dimensions and we will size it and quote the control and stones with it.

No, and it will not run without one. The Spirit has no controls on the body. You need a Harvia Fenix or Xenio wall control: FX30 or CX30 for the SP60E, FX45 or CX45 for the SP80E and SP90E. Order it with the heater.
No. You need 110 lbs, and Harvia specifies round Olivine diabase 2 to 4 inches, part R-991, four boxes of 33 lbs. Rounded stone is specified rather than split-face because it stacks with more air between the pieces. Call us and we will add stones to the order.
Measure width times depth times height in feet. The SP60E covers 177 to 294 cubic feet, the SP80E 177 to 431, and the SP90E 177 to 494. Glass, stone, brick and uninsulated log walls all raise the requirement, so call 866-861-6317 with your measurements if your room has much glass or masonry.
Not in this series. Harvia lists the US Spirit models as 240V single phase only. For a commercial room on 208V three phase you need a different Harvia line, and we can point you at the right one.
Yes, through the control unit rather than the heater. Every Harvia Fenix control has WiFi built in and runs through the MyHarvia app. The integrated cutout that prevents startup when something is sitting on the heater is what makes remote starting sensible.
For the SP60E, Harvia publishes 3.2 inches to combustible material at the front and both sides, 4 inches above the floor, and 35.5 inches to the ceiling. These change with output, so follow the manual for the model you buy rather than these figures.
Yes. The Spirit is hardwired at 240V single phase and draws 25 A on the SP60E, 33.3 A on the SP80E and 37.5 A on the SP90E. It should be installed by a licensed electrician to local code, and the circuit sized to the model you buy.
The Spirit range is ETL listed. That is the mark the distributor publishes for the SP60E, the SP80E and the SP90E. On circuit protection, the published guidance is the minimum conductor size, AWG 10 on the SP60E and AWG 8 on the SP80E and SP90E, and a direction to follow the installation and operation manual for the breaker. No numeric fuse rating is published, so we do not print one. Your electrician sizes protection to the current draw and to local code.
