Cozy Heat Heaters

Cozy Heat wood burning sauna stoves, from an authorized dealer. Eleven models built in Estonia, in 12 kW and 18 kW, for sauna rooms of 210 to 635 cubic feet. Heavy stone loads of 243 to 397 pounds hold the heat, so the steam stays even through a long session.

Where to start. Load the fire from inside the sauna with the Cozy Heat or the SW, which carries the most stone in the range. Keep wood and ash out of the hot room with a thru-wall model, fired from the next room. Comparing brands? See all wood burning sauna heaters.

Two things to know before you order. Stones are sold separately, and these stoves carry no UL, ETL or CSA listing, so check your local code first. Rated 4.8 on Google. Call 866-861-6317 and we will check the numbers with you.

Cozy Heat wood burning sauna stoves

Cozy Heat builds wood burning sauna stoves in Tabasalu, Estonia. RecovAthlete carries eleven of them: five standard models that you load from inside the sauna, five thru-wall models that you load from the room next door, and one outdoor fire pit. Each stove comes in a 12 kW and an 18 kW version. The 12 kW heats a room of 210 to 423 cubic feet. The 18 kW heats 317 to 635 cubic feet.

The design point is stone mass. A Cozy Heat holds 243 to 397 pounds of stone depending on the model, which is a lot for a stove this size. Stone stores heat and gives it back slowly, so the steam stays even through a long session instead of spiking and fading. Stones are not included with any model and are ordered separately.

All eleven run on wood logs only, use a 114 mm flue at the top of the stove, and need 12 Pa of draught. Firewood is 8 to 12 cm across. Maximum log length is 13 inches on the 12 kW and 15.7 inches on the 18 kW. Side clearance to a combustible wall is 6.7 inches on the 12 kW and 9.1 inches on the 18 kW, with 19.7 inches at the front on both. A shared flue is not permitted.

The stoves are tested to EN 15821:2010 and BImSchV DIN EN 13240 level 2, which are European construction and emissions standards. They carry no UL, ETL or CSA listing. If your local code, your inspector or your insurer requires a North American safety listing, these stoves will not satisfy it. Check before you order. Manufacturer warranty is 24 months against manufacturing defects, stoves only. Lead time is 60 days from order.

Standard or thru-wall, the decision that comes first

This is the only choice that changes your building work, so make it before you pick a look. Everything else on this page is reversible. This one is not.

Standard: you load it from inside

The door faces into the sauna. Simpler install, no wall opening, lower price. You bring wood into the hot room and the fire draws its air from there. Five cage designs.

Thru-wall: you load it from the next room

The firebox extends through the wall so you feed and tend the fire from a changing room or outside. No wood, ash or cold draught in the sauna. Needs a masonry opening.

What a thru-wall install demands

A concrete or brick wall no thicker than 5.9 inches. Opening 10.0 inches wide on the 12 kW, 12.4 inches on the 18 kW, starting 17.3 to 18.5 inches off the floor. Allow 19.7 inches clear each side of the opening and 37.8 inches above it.

What it costs you

Thru-wall models add 5.9 inches of depth, weigh 8 to 12 kg more, and drop maximum log length to about 30 cm. They also cost more than the standard version of the same stove. Load the wood on the grate at the back, not in the wall extension.

The five stone cages, and what each one holds

Cozy Heat sells one firebox in five cages. The cage is the frame that holds the stones, and it sets both the appearance and how much stone the stove carries. More stone means a longer, gentler heat. The cage can be swapped later, and changing the stones from sharp to rounded changes the look without changing the stove.

Stone load by cage design, from the manufacturer manual
Cage Look Stone, 12 kW Stone, 18 kW Height, 12 kW
Cozy Heat Open bar frame, the original 243 lb 353 lb 27.6 in
O Rounded cage 243 lb 353 lb 27.6 in
OG Barrel cage, wider body 265 lb 353 lb 27.9 in
SW Tallest cage, most stone 265 lb 397 lb 32.1 in
Quattro Square bar cage 265 lb 353 lb 27.6 in

The SW at 18 kW carries 397 pounds of stone, the most in the range, and stands 34.3 inches tall. If ceiling height is tight, check the clearance figure on the product page before you choose it. Every model needs 44.5 inches from stove top to ceiling on the 12 kW and 52.8 inches on the 18 kW.

Wall opening figures are for the 12 kW. The 18 kW needs 12.4 inches. Cozy Heat also makes an outdoor iron fire pit with a stone filled double wall, 30 inches wide, for outdoor use only.

Which Cozy Heat stove fits your sauna

Room under 423 cubic feet

Take a 12 kW. That covers most two to four person home saunas, roughly 6 to 12 cubic metres. Going bigger does not heat faster, it just overshoots and burns more wood.

Room 423 to 635 cubic feet

Take an 18 kW. Larger firebox, 15.7 inch logs, and 9.1 inch side clearance instead of 6.7, so measure the gap to your bench framing first.

You want the longest, softest heat

The SW holds the most stone in the range at 397 pounds on the 18 kW. It is also the tallest, so check ceiling clearance.

You do not want wood in the hot room

Any thru-wall model. You will need a masonry wall opening, so decide this before the sauna is framed, not after.

What ships, and what does not

Every stove arrives with the heater body, the stone cage, a 114 mm chimney pipe, the glass door, cleaning hatch, upper cleaning hole, ash box and the manual. Standard models include a hearth frame. Thru-wall models leave the hearth frame out and add the combustion chamber extension instead.

Stones are not included. Plan on 243 to 397 pounds depending on the model. Cozy Heat sells peridotite, olivine-dolerite and olivine stones sized 3.0 to 5.9 inches. Order them with the stove so everything lands together, because the stove ships LTL freight on a 60 day lead time.

Turned down for financing somewhere else? That is usually where we start. As an authorized dealer our pricing matches the manufacturer's, so the real question is who gets you approved, who picks up the phone, and who stays with you after the crate arrives.

More lenders, more approvals

We run multiple financing partners for home and commercial buyers, plus a Canadian option, so a no from one lender is not a no from us.

Common Questions

Are Cozy Heat stoves UL, ETL or CSA listed?
No. Cozy Heat stoves are tested to the European standards EN 15821:2010 and BImSchV DIN EN 13240 level 2. There is no UL, ETL or CSA listing on any model. Many US jurisdictions, and some insurers, require a North American listing for a solid fuel appliance. Check your local code before ordering. Call 866-861-6317 if you want help reading the requirement.
Do Cozy Heat stoves come with stones?
No. Stones are ordered separately on every model. You need 243 to 397 pounds depending on the stove, sized 3.0 to 5.9 inches, in peridotite, olivine-dolerite or olivine. Order them at the same time as the stove.
What is the difference between a standard and a thru-wall model?
A standard stove is loaded from inside the sauna. A thru-wall stove has a firebox extension that passes through the wall, so you feed the fire from the next room and keep wood and ash out of the hot room. Thru-wall needs a concrete or brick opening in a wall no thicker than 5.9 inches, so decide before the room is framed.
How long does delivery take?
Lead time from the manufacturer is 60 days, and stoves ship LTL freight. That is a real 60 days, not a stock item, so order ahead of a build date. We confirm the freight appointment with you before it leaves.
Which size do I need, 12 kW or 18 kW?
Measure the room in cubic feet. The 12 kW covers 210 to 423 cubic feet. The 18 kW covers 317 to 635. If you land in the 317 to 423 overlap, the 18 kW gives you headroom for an uninsulated or glass-heavy room, and the 12 kW is enough for a well insulated one. Call 866-861-6317 with your dimensions.
