    Description

Harvia Virta Pro: the electric heater for rooms a domestic unit cannot hold

Domestic electric sauna heaters run out around 635 cubic feet. The Virta Pro is what comes after. It is a wide, floor-standing graphite black heater built for commercial and club rooms, in two outputs. The HL160E runs 16 kW on 240V single phase and covers 354 to 918 cubic feet. The HL200E runs 20 kW on 208V three phase and covers 354 to 1,130 cubic feet.

Sized for duty cycle, not just volume

A commercial room is not simply a bigger domestic room. It reheats several times a day, often with the door opening between sessions, and the heater has to recover rather than just reach temperature once. The Virta Pro carries 200 lbs of stone on the HL160E and 264 lbs on the HL200E, and that stored mass is what brings the room back after a door cycle instead of starting from cold air each time.

    The supply decides the model

These are not two sizes of one thing electrically. The HL160E is 240V single phase at 66.7 amps. The HL200E is 208V three phase at 58.2 amps across two circuits. Your panel decides which you can install and neither converts to the other supply, so settle the electrical question before the output question. It usually makes the choice for you.

Control, stones and the rest of the budget

Both need a separate control and Harvia lists two: the Fenix FX45-U1-U3-XC or the Xenio CX45-U1-U3-XW. Both arrive with no stones and take Harvia AC3000 split-face olivine, five boxes for the HL160E and six for the HL200E. Both ship LTL rather than parcel, so a delivery appointment and a way to get 100 lbs of heater into the room are part of it.

BEFORE YOU ORDER: THIS IS A COMMERCIAL INSTALL, NOT A LARGE DOMESTIC ONE

The HL160E draws 66.7 amps single phase and the HL200E draws 58.2 amps across two circuits on 208V three phase. Those are service-level loads needing a licensed electrician and, in most jurisdictions, an inspection. Both are floor mounted and 31 inches wide, so the bench layout has to give them the floor, and both ship LTL. Both arrive as a heater only: budget the FX45 or CX45 control and 200 to 264 lbs of stone alongside. Harvia publishes no line fuse rating for either model, so your electrician sizes protection to local code.

Where it sits against the rest of the Harvia range

Harvia builds electric heaters in three tiers and it is worth knowing which one you are actually shopping. The KIP and Cilindro ranges are wall heaters for domestic rooms, topping out around 425 and 636 cubic feet. The standard Virta is the floor-standing domestic range and reaches 635. The Virta Pro is a different class again: wider, heavier, drawing service-level current, and rated to 1,130 cubic feet. Most buyers who land here are sizing a commercial room for the first time and are surprised by the electrical requirement rather than the price. If the building cannot deliver the supply, no amount of budget fixes it, which is why we ask about the panel before anything else. The other thing worth saying plainly: a Virta Pro in a domestic-sized room is not a better sauna. It is an oversized one that costs more to install and cycles more often, and the standard Virta will give you a better session for less money.

    Also Consider

If your room is under 635 cubic feet, the standard Harvia Virta covers it for far less. For the control, see the Harvia Xenio range.

    Why buy this from RecovAthlete

Commercial heaters get specified wrong at the panel, not at the heater. Send us your available supply, your room volume and how often the room turns over, and we will tell you which model your building can actually take before you commit to either. Call 866-861-6317, 9am to 6pm EST, Monday to Friday, or book a call.

    Questions buyers ask

    Which model do I need?

Usually the supply decides. The HL160E is 240V single phase and the HL200E is 208V three phase. If both are available, choose on volume: to 918 cubic feet for the HL160E and to 1,130 for the HL200E.

    What control does it take?

A Harvia Fenix FX45-U1-U3-XC or a Xenio CX45-U1-U3-XW. Both models need one and neither includes it.

How much stone does it need?

200 lbs on the HL160E and 264 lbs on the HL200E, in Harvia AC3000. That is five and six 44 lb boxes.

What fuse should the electrician fit?

Harvia publishes no line fuse rating for either model. Your electrician sizes protection to the published current draw and to local code.
