The Harvia Sauna Stones 4-6" / 44lbs is Harvia’s factory-spec sauna stone pack, 4-6 inch stone size, Harvia olivine diabase (standard Harvia factory stone, larger size). Sauna stones aren’t a commodity. The wrong stone type or size reduces löyly quality, causes premature cracking, and can damage heating elements in electric heaters.
Harvia stones are sorted for size, shape, and mineral density. The olivine diabase specification is what produces the distinctive Finnish sauna steam. It is softer, longer lasting, and more enveloping than generic river rock or basalt substitutes.

Heaters that call for the smaller 2-4 inch stone, including KIP, Cilindro, Club, TopClass, The Wall and Vega, take AC3000 instead. Box counts run from two for an M3 or a PRO 20 up to thirteen for the largest Legend.

Can I use regular river rock or landscape stones?
No. Incorrect stones don’t produce proper löyly, can crack suddenly at sauna temperatures, and in electric heaters can damage the heating elements. Harvia stones are graded for this use.
How many packs do I need?
Harvia publishes a box count per heater. An M3 or a PRO 20 takes two 44 lb boxes. A Virta or Virta Combi at 6-9 kW takes three, and at 10.5 kW takes four. A Legend 150 takes six. Are these stones safe for electric heaters?
Yes, in the electric heaters Harvia specifies it for: the Virta, Virta Combi and Virta Pro. Other Harvia electric heaters take the 2-4 inch AC3000. Using non-Harvia stones is one of the main causes of premature electric heating element failure.
