Harvia Chimney Extensions: adding height to a Harvia steel chimney
A Harvia steel chimney kit is sized for a typical room. Taller ceilings, or a roof further away than the kit reaches, need extending. These are the sections that do it, in two lengths and two finishes: the WHP500 and WHP500M at 500 mm and the WHP1000 and WHP1000M at 1000 mm, in stainless steel or black.
Length and finish are the whole decision
Measure the shortfall between your existing chimney and where it needs to terminate, then pick the sections that make it up. Two 500 mm sections and one 1000 mm reach the same height, so the choice is usually about where the joins fall relative to a ceiling or roof penetration. Match the finish to the chimney you already have, because stainless and black do not sit well together on a visible run.
BEFORE YOU ORDER: CONFIRM THE BORE AND THE SELF-SUPPORTING LIMIT
These extend the Harvia steel chimney system and are not a general-purpose flue pipe. Confirm your existing chimney is the Harvia system before ordering. Harvia rates the assembled chimney as self-supporting to 3 metres indoors and 2 metres outdoors; a longer run needs bracing, which is a structural decision rather than a parts one. An unshielded 115 mm smoke pipe needs 500 mm to combustible material at the front, behind and each side, 0 mm to non-combustible, and 1000 mm to the ceiling. The WZ020130 radiation shield brings the 500 mm down to 250 mm. These are separate from the stove clearances and both have to be met. Chimney work is a job for a certified installer and is usually subject to local permit.
