Basi Compact Reformer Comparison

Compact Reformer vs Full BASI Reformer

The Compact keeps the BASI feel in a smaller frame. Here is exactly what you trade for the footprint.

Dimension Compact Reformer BASI Systems Reformer
Frame length 81.5" 95.3"
Footprint in use 91.9" x 25.2" 107.3" x 28.5"
Carriage 23.6" x 25.6" 27.5" x 31.2"
Weight 153 lb 197.3 lb
Springs 5 5, plus a 3-level gear bar
Pulleys VPS riser, height only EPS, height and width
Tower upgrade Not available Converts to Tower or Combo
Price plus freight $5,250 $6,850
Difference $1,600 less, and 14 inches shorter $1,600 more, and it can grow
Choose this if Floor space is the hard constraint, or this is your first BASI purchase You have the room, teach taller clients, or want the tower path open
Swipe the table sideways

One honest limitation. Spring count is the same, so the resistance range is the same. What you give up is track length, carriage width, the EPS pulley, the gear bar and any route to a tower. If the room allows, the full BASI Systems Reformer is the better long-term buy. Choose the Compact when the measurement makes the decision for you.

Compact Reformer vs Compact Reformer with Tower

Same compact frame, and this is the decision that catches people out, because the tower is not something you can add afterwards.

Consideration Compact Reformer Compact with Tower
Frame Identical compact beech frame Identical compact beech frame
Tower None, and it cannot be added later Full vertical tower, push-through and roll-down bar
Springs 5, reformer only 13: 5 reformer, 8 tower
Raised mat work Not included Twin Mat Conversion included
Ceiling needed Standard residential height 7 ft minimum
Choose this if You teach reformer repertoire only, or your ceiling rules out a tower You want tower and mat programming, now or within a few years
Swipe the table sideways

This is the question worth ten minutes on the phone. Buying the plain Compact and deciding a year later that you want push-through bar work means buying a second frame, not an upgrade. If tower work is even a maybe, the version with the tower is the cheaper route.
