The HealthSmart Red Light Therapy Panel emits at 660nm (visible red) and 850nm (near-infrared), the two wavelengths with the largest body of peer-reviewed clinical research on photobiomodulation. Available in two sizes: Mini (60W draw, 40 LEDs, 10" × 6") for targeted treatment, and Mid (270W draw, 180 LEDs, 35" × 9") for full-body coverage. Both use 30-degree focused lenses for consistent intensity across the panel surface, carry a lifetime warranty, and run on a standard household outlet. Many buyers pair a panel with their infrared sauna — near-infrared from red light adds the cellular-level wavelength that FAR-only sauna cabins don't provide.

The 660nm and 850nm wavelength combination is the most-studied in clinical photobiomodulation literature. 660nm (red light) is absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondrial respiratory chain — the mechanism behind ATP upregulation in skin and surface tissue. 850nm (NIR) penetrates deeper for muscle and joint application. A lot of panels on the market use underpowered LEDs, inconsistent wavelengths, or inflated wattage figures. HealthSmart specifies draw power (60W and 270W) separately from LED power rating — a more honest way to describe output that many competitors obscure. The focused 30-degree lens maintains irradiance at usable treatment distances. We carry this because it does what it claims at a price point that doesn't require justifying a four-figure recovery equipment purchase for a secondary device.

Choose the Mini if your primary goal is targeted treatment — face, a specific joint, localized muscle group, or a wound site. The 10" × 6" panel delivers precise coverage where you point it. Choose the Mid if you want to cover larger areas — a full torso section, both legs, or the back — without repositioning the panel multiple times per session. Most buyers with a broader recovery goal go with the Mid.
Most protocols recommend 6–12 inches for skin and surface tissue applications. For deeper penetration into muscle and joint tissue, closer positioning (4–6 inches) with shorter session times (10–15 min) is commonly recommended. The 30-degree lens maintains consistent intensity within that range without significant drop-off.
Yes — many buyers run a red light session immediately before or after sauna. Pre-sauna: red light warms up surface tissue and primes cellular function before FAR heat takes over. Post-sauna: body temperature is elevated and blood vessels are dilated, which may increase light absorption and penetration. Either protocol works. The HealthSmart sauna's 140°F operating temp rating on the panel means it can also be used inside the sauna during sessions.
Avoid direct eye exposure to the panel at close range — the 850nm wavelength is invisible to the human eye so you won't naturally squint away from it. For body application, keeping your eyes closed or directed away is sufficient. For face treatments, use appropriate eye protection or keep eyes closed throughout the session.
