SunRay Hampton 3 Person Indoor Sauna – FAQ
🔌 Electrical & Power Questions
What kind of electrical connection is required?
This sauna requires a dedicated 240V circuit due to the high heat output. It comes with a power cord attached to the heater, but no plug—it must be hard-wired into a junction box or fitted with a plug. Always check the product manual for the exact electrical specs for your model.
Can I plug the sauna into a regular outlet?
No. Traditional saunas like this one require a 240V connection and cannot be plugged into standard outlets.
🌬️ Ventilation & Safety
Does the sauna require ventilation?
Yes. It includes a built-in air vent in the ceiling to circulate heat and release moisture—especially useful when using the sauna as a steam sauna. It also helps reduce temperature without needing to open the door.
How much ceiling clearance do I need?
Leave at least 3 to 4 inches between the top of the sauna and your ceiling. This ensures proper airflow to the electrical components.
🌡️ Heat & Performance
What is the maximum temperature?
The sauna can reach up to 170°F, with a typical operating range between 160°F and 170°F.
How long does it take to heat up?
Heating time is typically 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the room temperature, sauna size, and the heater type.
🪨 Heater & Stones
How are the sauna stones used?
The included heater stones sit on top of the heater elements and radiate heat throughout the cabin. You can drizzle a small amount of water on them to create humidity, but avoid pouring too much—excess water can damage the heater.
Where is the heater installed?
The sauna comes with a wall bracket or cradle for mounting. Do not place the heater directly on the floor—it must be elevated to allow airflow and prevent fire hazards.
💡 Lighting & Wiring
What kind of lighting does the sauna include?
You’ll get ambient dome lighting, which can be wired in two ways:
-
Connected to the heater (light turns off with the heater).
-
Wired separately with its own switch.
Refer to the sauna’s wiring guide for instructions.
🪵 Materials & Origin
What wood is the sauna made from?
The cabin is crafted from premium Hemlock or Cedar wood, sourced from Canada.
Where is the sauna manufactured?
Manufacturing is done in China. Distribution and warranty support are handled by SunRay Saunas in Richmond, VA.
